My New Life as a Vampire #5: New Friend
I can’t believe I’m getting nervous again.
Previous parts here: 1, 2, 3, 4
I can’t believe I left my water bottle at the gym. I’m normally so good at remembering everything, but yesterday I got distracted by an email from my boss about a problem that needed me to go in the office for a minute that I ended up leaving it behind. One of the bad parts of working with other vampires is they know you’re awake so you can come in. At least I got some overtime pay for it, still I hate leaving things behind. I went back to the gym the next day to look for it when I couldn’t find it in my normal places. I nearly got frustrated when someone got my attention. I turned around to one of those handsome werewolves walking over to me with my water bottle in his hand. It was hard for me to focus on his words without staring in his green eyes.
“I noticed that you left this behind. I didn’t want this to end up in the lost and found bin so I placed it in my locker.”
“Thanks. It’s one of my favorite water bottles.”
“No problem. My name is Tommy, it’s nice to meet you…”
“Erica. My name is Erica, it’s nice to meet you too.”
“Well, Erica, which spot are you starting your workout today?”
“I’ll be here to workout tomorrow. I’m just here to grab my bottle today.”
“Good thing I’ll be here tomorrow then.”
If my heart could beat again it would have pounded in my chest after seeing that smile. I haven’t flirted in years. I can’t believe I’m going to start again.
